Hayrettin is the new voice on the Ebru scene. His unconventional,

visionary approach to the ancient art of paper marbling has helped bring this art form into the 21st century and stirred up a storm within the Ebru world. By continuously setting new standards through his

innovative work methods he has established himself as one of the most eagerly watched figures within this community. Hayrettin's love for art started early on whilst looking through his father's vast collection of antique books.

Born 1979 in Batman, Turkey he decided to move to Istanbul aged just 17. There he started working in interior design whilst taking drawing classes. In 1998 he met Ahmet Güneştekin, a well known Kurdish visual artist who took him under his wing. This afforded Hayrettin a unique insight into the ins and outs of the art world. It soon became apparent that Hayrettin was extremely gifted and had a very unique take on the ancient art of paper marbling. Wanting to share his passion for this special art form, in 2011 Hayrettin decided to set up his own studio in Camden, where he made it his primary concern to connect people through sharing the tradition, heritage and culture of Ebru. He has now set up in Newington Green where he has been teaching ever since.

In addition to lecturing (at the Yunus Emre Institute, amongst others) and producing his own work Hayrettin also regularly participates in collaborations with fashion and interior designers such as Dries van Noten who used his patterns in his Men A/W 2018-2019 collection
